Goodbye Little Chalkboard

There was something special about Tim Russert. He was no pompous anchor with an obvious (and feigned) erudition. Neither did he have that annoying “I’m-not-an-elitist” self-consciousness. He just seemed relatively normal and endearingly nerdy and he got excited about things!

Even when I thought he was wrong (in the way he framed a question or a point he made during his roundtable of pundit buddies), I really liked him. How often can you say that about someone in mass media?

There will be a hole in my Sunday. And a little white chalkboard will be sorely missed in November.
